Syntax: Topic

Toaq clauses can begin with a topic which specifies what the clause is about. The topic marker separates the topic from the rest of the clause.

Níchaq bï daqsheı jí.
As for today, I'm free.

Here, níchaq ("today") is the topic, Níchaq bï ("As for today") is the topic phrase, and everything after it is the comment.

The topic should be a definite reference, like a pronoun or a determiner phrase using or rising tone. A quantified expression using or can't be the topic, but it may be fronted using (see cleft).

An adverbial can maybe be a topic (TODO expand on this).
