Tıeqchıeq is a simple board game traditionally played by children, although it isn't atypical for teens or adults to play it. Two players are needed: red and yellow.

Each player has 6 tokens. The goal is to move all of your tokens from their starting dot to their respective end (X).

The game uses 4 regular coins instead of normal dice. Toss all 4 coins each turn. Count how many coins landed face up. That number (from 0 to 4) is your roll result.

You must pick a starting player.

  • Each turn, a player
    • Tosses the 4 coins to get a value (0–4).
    • Then chooses one of two actions:
      • Introduce a new token on the board by placing it that many spaces from the starting dot.
      • Move an existing token on the board forward by that number of spaces.
    • If the coins result in 0, tough luck. Your turn is over.
  • Turns alternate between players.

The board has a path from the dot (start) to the X (goal).

Each player has colored squares that mark their territory. Your own territory doesn't affect you, but moving into your opponent's square costs 2 extra per square. For example, to move 1 space inside enemy territory, you must roll a 3.

If you land on a plus (+) of your color, you are given a choice to move one more square.

If you land on a ring (∘), you get an extra turn (roll again).

Landing on the purple sun (☀) also gives you an extra turn, but it also makes your token unbattleable as long as it stays there.

If you land on a square occupied by an opponent's token, you trigger a battle. To battle:

  • Toss 2 coins.
  • Coins are assigned a Red side (front) and Yellow side (back).
  • If both coins show your color, you win the battle.
    • Opponent's token is removed from the board, to be reintroduced later.
    • Your token takes its place.
  • If both show opponent’s color, you lose the battle.
    • Your token is removed, opponent stays.
  • If they show different colors, the attacker (the one who initiated battle) wins.

Reminder: Tokens on the purple sun cannot be battled.

The first player to bring all 6 tokens to their respective end (X) wins the game.

If you are one roll away from your goal, and your roll exceeds the amount required to go to X, you cannot move.
