Expressing regrets

From The Toaq Wiki

You can express regrets using the subjunctive or counterfactual modal words ao and ea together with luı.

Âo, ꝡä luı moaqchıe jí pó tóa, nä pu taı jí pó téoqme da.
If I'd memorized the words, I would have passed the exam.

Êa, ꝡä bu luı nue tı jí nháo pátı, nä tıshue jí búe.
If I hadn't promised them to be at the party, I could stay home.

A simpler way involves a counterfactual speech act and luı:

Luı hạosoa jí nháo ba.
I should've helped her. / I wish I'd helped her. / If only I'd helped her.

Bu luı kuq súq pó káqshıa nhaobo ba.
You shouldn't have said the thing about his glasses.

Oe, luı pạdeoq hao jí!
Hey, you could've told me so! ("Have told me so!")
